You should be able to use a program such as fdisk or Disk Druid, which are
part of most Linux installations, to recreate the extended partiton. Make
sure the sizes are exactly the same as before!
To fix anything else that Linux might need (e.g. LILO) it is usually safe to
do an "Upgrade" using the same CD that you used to install Linux.
