If you grab the tar file version you can simply untar Netscape 6 in a temporary
directory and run the "netscape" shell script. The rpm version insists on
being installed in a particular directory and may interfear with previous
versions of Netscape.

And doesn't support proxy.pac files, and doesn't support Basic Authentication
(the password box just keeps popping up) and will crash on many of the sites
that make heavy use of Javascript.

Still, there are some pretty cool things to play with. As well as being able
to customise the look and feel (though "skins") some people have reused much
of the Mozilla infrastructure to build new applications. For example, there
is XMLterm which is a VT100 terminal emulator that has escape sequences for
XML, HTML, etc. You can run bash, emacs, etc. inside it. Probably not very
useful but just an example of what you can do. See
http://dmoz.org/Computers/Data_Formats/Markup_Languages/XML/Applications/XUL/Applications/
for more details.
