It actually works quite well - and has gotten me out of some tough spots
in the past.
Running two network connections over the one UTP cable {using the other
pairs} _does_ reduce your maximum cable length - but only by 15 metres or
so.
It takes some fiddly cable tweaking, and of course you need adapters on
both ends, but it works just fine.
