No, IIRC SIGHUP is and was, a software signal sent from the serial driver
to the application as a result of line disconnection. This signal is
available to applications in Unix so that they can terminate the dialup
session and not have the next caller stumble upon a ready-made session.
Do you have line quality problems or something else disrupting the line?
