Richard Hayes, inter alia:
> Australia furniture company staff *ONLY* with blonde blue-eyed
> Anglo-celts.
> The film was more like Meadow Lea ad circa 1995.
> It was so bad I think they either do not understand the technology or
> they did it as to not frighten the horses.
Richard's lament has struck a chord in me.
Sometimes I think we are living in a world where everything looks
normal. Dotted around the place are holes with covers. Lift
a cover, and there is a completely new, alien, parallel world.
The 'normal world' is the world as portrayed by mass media.
It is the world projected in advertising and marketing campaigns,
the lifestyle, business and trendy-nerdy lift-out sections
of papers, of opinion givers, and is the world that large
consumer based corporations think they live in.
The truth is different and has passed these people by.
We now get our information and opinions from sources far
more powerful than those traditional media outlets.
The story we are getting, although seemingly confused,
contradictory and unpalatable, is so overwhelmingly detailed,
undeniable that it makes the stories printed about what we
know a joke, unbelievable, discreditable.
In our world, with the things we know about, we are not passive consumers,
taking in these discredited yarns. We are active, helping create the
future we want, being part of the information flow.
Because of our participation, we can help direct it towards ends that
are not just for the vast enrichment of a few, but towards goals
that are incredibly rich and diverse, but almost invariably for more
humane, noble and worthwhile results.
Here is our world then, those who would have us conform to easy
stereotypes and second rate information.
Please hop out of the way.
