This is somewhat off topic, but I've tried the proftp users list with
out any luck and I know that there are some unix cross-dress'es on
this list ;-)
I need some help with getting a pam module (which works perfectly on
Linux ;-) to work on Solaris. The basic requirement is to LDAP
authenticate ftp users and also chroot them into their home directories
for both Linux and Solaris servers. I wrote a PAM module which does the
LDAP authentication and it works perfectly on Linux with the standard
ftp server and I can also chroot them into their home directory.
The module also works fine on Solaris with the standard sun-supplied ftp
server on 2.7. But the Solaris ftp server doesn't provide a way to lock
the user into their home directory (as far as I can tell anyway). So I
installed proFTP on Solaris. It won't work with my pam module (or any
other pam module that i've downloaded off the net) However it works fine
with the standard pam_unix.so module (and chroot's the user).
As a test I also installed proFTP onto Linux and it works fine with my
pam module.!!??!!
So basically I can either chroot my solaris users OR ldap authenticate
them but I can't have both (*sniff*).
Has anyone out there got any advice re Solaris and Pam differences to
Linux?
