Has anything changed before this started happening?
If not and the system is OK to play with (down time is OK), remove any
unneeded cards and backup and remove your /etc/conf.modules and try a boot
up.
Check also you log files in /var/log/dmesg and /var/log/messages to see
where things stop.
Start there...

Subject: [SLUG] RH 5.2 box Init problem
Hi, I have a RH 5.2 box that won't boot past the stage where Init calls
/etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit or /etc/rc.d/rc.
I've used a rescue disk to mount and check all filesystems with no
errors. The files in question appear intact, are executable, permissions
are correct, as is /dev/initctl.
I've found a handful of references to this type of problem with google and
deja searches, but no useful information as to where I can go from here.
Can anyone suggest how I might go about recovering from this?
Brad.
