Thanks,
Is it a known fact the gdm won't broadcast like xdm? I would prefer
to continue to use gdm but will change to xdm, as suggested, but only if
necessary.

Well I don't run prefdm as I just run xdm and the console goes GUI
too so
I'm fine with that.. I just placed xdm in the rc.local file instead
of
inittab as once it stuffed up on me and kept trying to respawn
itself...errrr...

As well as doing this, I could not get gdm to work....
solution: change to xdm
either edit /etc/X11/prefdm so that xdm is exec'ed at the bottom, or
make
prefdm a soft link to the xdm executable.

If your refering to the broadcast list and it's not visible then try
modifying the file (under RedHat) in /etc/X11/xdm/Xaccess
and remove the # from the "* hosts allowable to connect"

Subject: [SLUG] xdm server question
I have just recently installed RH 6.2 on a machine in my office.
Apparently
this
distribution starts up gdm instead of xdm. From a Windows
workstation, I
start
up Reflection X and cannot see this particular machine in the list
of Unix
machines running xdm. Where can I go to learn how to configure this
correctly?
Is gdm supposed to behave the same way as xdm?
