An excellent summary of core tcp/ip protocols is "TCP/IP Jumpstart - 
Internet Protocol Basics" by Andrew G. Blank
It's got review exercises at the end of each chapter and you can get 
through it in about 10hours.  Only $35 from the Co-op bookshop.
