The proftpd list changes the headers so when you reply, it change the to:
address to the list instead. Just becomes a pain when you want to reply
directly...

It's just you ;-)
Actually it's because the mailing list is set to automatically reply to the
poster, not the list, when you press the "reply" button.
To get something to reply to the list it's easiest to do a "reply to all"
and the poster gets duplicates.

P.S. I would prefer a "reply to list" but don't want to start a flame war.
