I think this is a basic X security issue and is independent of the window
manager used.
I don't use RedHat so I am speculating on the authority mechanism used (5 are
available). According to the man page  Xsecurity(1) the most important file
in the users home directory is .Xauthority. Check the ownership of this file.
It must be owned by the user and should be set -rw-------.
