NMI is a Non Maskable Interrupt.. which means "hey CPU, I don't care what
your doing and I want service NOW!"

can you check this in /var/log/dmesg and see if the error is in there?

Subject: [SLUG] Slow day and no Floppy Drive

No time for Net acces at work today, and SLUG is slow so I thought I throw
out this newbie question.
When I boot my RH6.2 machine it gets to the floppy drive then says something
to the effect of:

Floppy is 1.44M
uhhh.. NMI recieved. <something about memory chip problems>
FDC is National <something or another>

So what are/is NMI, and why won't my floppy drive work now?
The machine is a IBM P200, and the RAM seems to work fine once you get into
Linux.
A quick look at the HOW-TO's last night offered no help.
Don't spend too much time on this, I haven't yet!!
Thanks
Steve
