I found it - thanks to those who poiinted me in the right direction.
I recompiled the kernel, and it seemed to work fine. However, Xfree 4.0.1
still doesn't work.
After getting the binaries, and doing the install of the required parts,
then typing
XFree86 -configure
the damn thing dumps core. It drops with Signal 11
Anyone got the clues for installing this beastie?
The config is as follows.
Gateway P3/650, 128 Mb RAM, RH 6.0 installed, kernel 2.2.16 {with agpgart
patch applied}. The AGP patch seems to detect the chipset and memory OK -
at least the bootup messages show it doing so.
Oh, the XFS doesn't work either, but I can live without that if necessary.
Any clues from anyone who has got this running?
