Okay - here's an interesting outcome...
I should have mentioned that the mouse was running fine - there's something
uncannily desperate about typing in commands into the GNOME Character Map
and pasting them into File Save boxes. :)
Turns out that when I ssh'ed in and killed Netscape (BANE! BANE OF MY
EXISTENCE!) it was all okay. This weirds me out because *nothing* was
responding on the keyboard.
