Have you looked at XFree86 4.0.1?

If you're comfortable running it (seems okay here, except for a mouse
problem, but I don't think that will bother you too much), there's added
support for accessibility features, such as turning your number pad into a
keyboard mouse with 3 buttons.

It's worth playing with. I logged in a couple of times with this on just to
see how usable it was, and it seemed fine. Slow and irritating for a
mouse-lubber, but good for awkward problems or situations such as yours.
