hi all
thanks for all the debian help.

I did say no war please ;-)

PINE i downloaded the RPM use alien to change it to tgz then copyed out
the binary.. works np.

my sound now works great
mouse 3 buttons @ wheel
my icq works
my apt-get works
my win dosent so i cant play NFS ;-(

i wrote lilo to /dev/hda1 (win partition) instead of /dev/hda
i can mount it cause i get the following err. when i try and mount it

vila:/home/salmona# mount -t ext2 /dev/hda1 /mnt/win/
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/hda1,
or too many mounted file systems
vila:/home/salmona#

and somthing along those lines at startup but with all these numbers..

my question

how do i fix this w/o a reinstall of win..

&or

can i get rid of the /mbr fdisk /mbr and use the one in /dev/hda1 and
still be able to boot win @ linux..

my current partition table is

Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/hda1 * 1 454 3432208+ c Win95 FAT32 (LBA)
/dev/hda2 889 1671 5919480 5 Extended
/dev/hda3 1672 2330 4982040 83 Linux
/dev/hda4 455 888 3281040 83 Linux
/dev/hda5 889 892 30208+ 83 Linux
/dev/hda6 893 908 120928+ 82 Linux swap
/dev/hda7 909 1671 5768248+ 83 Linux

thanks

alex
