Well, if the information on your PC is so vital to you then couldn't the
police be called in on something like this?
They do have computer crimes dept' and just like the women of the house not
letting you into the house (like I've seen before), the man is allowed in
regardless of their problems between them and the police can arrest the
women for not allowing him into the house.

I guess the same can apply for the computer. You should call the local
police and ask if they can help and force her to give you root access.
If the PC is yours then why does the other half know the root password? Why
would she need root access, not even my misses knows my root access and
anything she needs is done via a private web site (saves her logging in as
she's not computer illiterate.. eg. dial up, fetchmail, etc..

There are a number of ways in which I have tried but not on SuSe 6.3 and in
no way will I even start mentioning them either.

My advice is "The LAW can be your best friend"...

Subject: [SLUG] Locked out of system

Hello all

I have been locked out of my system and was wondering if anyone could help.
I need to log on and retrieve files. I don't have console access, my partner

(soon to be ex) has changed the root passwd, and I can't get near the
machine.

I have my local account but no root access. I am trying to log on and
generate a root access. I have tried several ideas such as generating a core

dump when running screen and other utilities which would grant me root
access.

The system is running SuSe 6.3 over a dial up network. I cna provide my log
in name and password to someone willing to help.

Please reply to [EMAIL PROTECTED] if you can help.

Regards,

Mike J
