Agreed, but there are some badly behaved modems that ignore the 1 second
pause, even if the S register is set.  Believe me, I have one.  The best
thing is to set the S2 register to 255 so that it doesn't know about the
"+".  You shouldn't need to use the ATH command anyway nowadays.
