Because the answers on the Web and in FAQ's and other places are not
necessarily useful.

My most popular web page is the web cam install page as it tell people
in simple steps how I set up a webcam. This information was readily
available but not in a form that people can understand it.

Another example is that I've added a search for to serach list archives
on my page. When I asked on a relevant list, people kept on sending me
to the same pages that I'd already said I had read. Once I had worked
out what to do, only then did the page make sense, but it still wasn't
of any help in working out what to do.

So people will continue to ask lists, no matter how many FAQ's, HOW-to's
etc there are.

I was under the impression that SLUG Pearls was some sort of similar
effort..

Can EVERYONE please snip unnecessary text from their replies. This list
is starting to resemble AOL lists - two line replies that quote 100 line
original messages.
