Background:

I have a Linux gateway with a Win2k network behind. In case you don't know,
Win2k does dynamic DNS which is related to logon, etc, where DHCP will issue
you with an IP address and drop your machine name into its DNS as a valid
host (Internal only).

Using DHCP makes it hard to block users from going out the gateway sometimes
'cause of the address change.

With this crappy DNS, if I point the linux to use MSDNS for internal host
resolution all is ok. If I point ipchains to block port 80 for host.domain
internally, it will pickup the right host.

Question is, will it always reference the FQDN, or will it resolve once and
then use the ip address from then on. Any one know?

Thanks
