Dear Everyone,

I've been hanging around the EDI / XML systems for a while. There are
multiple EDIs, EDIFACT and X12.
Then there are almost as many 'industry' EDIs as a pack of cards.

Many people use VANs (Value Added Networks) to translate the various
data formats. As always there are two competeing camps the M$ BizTalk
that only runs on M$ and ebXML an open standard. The most promissing is
that ebXML has just passed a significate milestone.

EDI is slow, expensive and very limited but it also is used by EVERY
large company to do alot of business. Incorporating XML will make it
more useful but hold your breath for it to occur.

If anyone wants to talk about it off-line just email.
