What happens if you try and print that file directly? Something like
'lpr filename' or maybe 'lpr-cups filename'? Is it correctly formatted,
but just not being sent to the printer, or is it messed up completely?

If you've got that far it should be possible to get Star Office
printing.
Certainly people have managed to print from Star Office using CUPS.
Try going to <http://www.mandrakeforum.com> and searching for 'cups',
there's been quite a few articles about it recently. There's also some
useful info at <http://mandrakeuser.org>. Also try asking on the
Mandrake
mailing lists <http://www.linux-mandrake.com/en/flists.php3> - asking on
the expert list is almost sure to get you a useful answer. You might
like
to try updating CUPS - there were a few bugs in the version released
with
7.2 that have since been fixed. Till Kamppeter puts out updates for CUPS
at
<http://www.mandrakesoft.com/~tkamppeter/packages/>.
