Hi all,
Time for Debian nuts to defend a policy decision that I simply don't
get. Why on earth is the default umask defined in /etc/profile == 022?
The obvious effect is that all files created are world readable, which
seems odd to me, as I'm used to the finicky perfectionism (especially in
regards to security) that most Debian policy decisions reflect.
Are there any docs that I've missed, or debian-devel threads I should
read for enlightenment? I'd love to find out why this was done.
- Jeff... posting in Evolution, balls-ups not my fault. ;)
