hi
i am sure that some of the other sluggers could explain it better but
ill try.
basicly it maps a whole bunch of keys it alt + sysreq/print screen +
a letter..
the diffrent letters send diffrent commands straight to the kernel so
that under any conditions / crash or whatever the keys will work and
the command will be sent.
be carefull of this as it has some very powerfull commands but for
example if somthing crashes ie video cards etc as u cant
just open a diffrent console.. i press alt+sysreq+S then U then B
this syncs the discs then unmounts all filesystems then B reboots the
computer ,by doing this the filesystems are safely unmounted and i
dont have to do a fsck at startup.. ;-) not that it crashes often
try
less /usr/src/linux/Documentation/sysrq.txt
for more info..
