Hi,
when I tried to install <gtkhtml-0.8.3-0_helix_2.i386.rpm> by
double clicking on the image in the home directory
I received the messages
"cannot get exclusive lock on /var/lib/rpm/Packages"
"cannot open Packages index using db3 - Operation not permitted (1)"
"Upgrade of 1 packages failed"
Similarly, when I tried
rpm -i ORBit-0.5.7-2*
in an attempt to pre-install the dependencies for <evolution-0.9> I
received the messages
"cannot open Packages index using db3 - Permission denied (13)"
"--> the rpm database cannot be opened in db3 format. If you have just
upgraded the rpm package
you need to convert your database to db3 format by running
'rpm --rebuilddb' as root."
When I do so I receive the message
"error: cannot open the Packages database in /var/lib/rpm"
It is true that I have recently upgraded RH6.2->7.0 and installed
Nautilus 1.0 but I have not had similar problems
installing other files.
I have untarred <evolution-0.9> and have a folder at
/home/adam/evolution-0.9
How do I get it to run ?
