Please, search the SLUG archives before posting such questions.
For those who haven't already seen them, Rebecca Richards and I have
written two quick-start guides to getting Telstra's ADSL service
running on Linux.
Rebecca wrote a quick guide to Telstra ADSL via Roaring Penguin
* http://www.becsta.net/adsl.html
I wrote a guide to Telstra ADSL via Linux 2.4 Native PPPoE
* http://kitsumi.xware.cx/tech/adsl-2.4.html
Rebecca's guide should work for everybody, and is nice and
straight-forward.
My one is specifically targeted towards people who have jumped to 2.4,
and know what they're doing.
Also, a large number of problems have been covered on the list
already, and there are a few key points to remeber with Telstra ADSL:
[These are reinterated from Rebecca's page]
1) Telstra only provides CHAP authentication. PAP does not work.
2) Your username is <foo>@bigpond, not <foo>@bpa, and not <foo>.
3) Your password is all in lowercase.
Otherwise, If you have ADSL questions, please search the list archives
first.
