Hi everyone,
I notice when programmers write books they tend to write them using
troff/nroff/groff with pic, eqn, etc to do various things.
Apparantly I can get camera-ready copy of my book in a (postscript?)
file, like mybook.ps, ready to give to the publisher.
I have learnt the basics of troff commands like .ps, .sp, \f, etc etc,
just the bare basics. But Brian Kernighan's tutorial doesn't seem to say
how to actually get the whatever.ps output file. I run troff like this:
% troff myfile.troff
and it prints out whatever it prints out, all the way down the console.
Is that the postscript file??? I tried
% troff myfile.troff > myfile.ps
But it was invalid when I tried to view it in ghostview.
Ahh, I give up. The useless manual page doesn't do me any good.
I hope someone can tell me how to use troff to make it output a ".ps"
file for me so I can view it in ghostview and practice my troff
commands. I couldn't even get a postscript "Hello, World!" to work! ;-)
