ARJ, Pkzip and some others are able to split (so does Winzip).
BTW, I know that a lot of companies used this.... and still do.
When OS/2 was around I used it instead of Windows, all the IBM disks in
those days came formatted as 1.7MB, I was very happy with that because
OS/2 in those days had far more apps by default than windows had.
( I faintly remember it came with > 30 floppies).
