Hi,
I previously sent an e-mail about he TCP/IP implementation and was
asked to answer a few questions so I could get some help. Below is a
copy of the email with the answers marked and in blue.
It is very unlikely that you have tweeked TCP/IP itself, more used the
standard configurations to make it work and you are having problems
with
this.
Is your box acting as a firewall on your network?
#NO.
Can your box do general network things like ping other boxes within
your
network and outside your network.
#YES, within the physical network only. LAN only, no internet.
Can you ping arbitrary names liek ibm.com to verify that your DNS is
working.
#Can ping any names and ip addresses that exist on the network and
listed in the /etc/hosts file
Some of the security stuff in RedHat was tightened a fair bit with the
latest upgrade. The port that you are using may be blocked by a
firewall rule.
#I suspect it may be related to new (if any) tcp/ip "parameters". These
parameters have been previously adjusted via the /etc/sysctl.conf file.
All security and tcp/ip extensions to the standard must be disabled for
our software to communicate.
Once again thanks for any help that may be provided.
Regards,
Adam.
