Hello,

This is my first post in SLUG, :) though I did attend one SLUG meeting, The one a
couple of months back when you couldn't get the projector working, But I havent been
able to attend since due to casual work :(

Anyway, On to my question.

A friend of mine has an ATI Radeon SDR, and it performs fantastically in Windows [im
sorry, you will see why I had to mention windows in a second :) ] but when he came
over the other night we attempted to get Quake 3 working in Linux. I got DRI and GLX
loaded etc, recompiled the kernel with AGPART support and Radeon support, went to load
Quake 3 and it performed like crap :(

In windows he gets ~70 FPS at 1024, in Linux he gets ~30 at 800, both medium detail. I
know Quake 3 can perform well in Linux casue I have it running in linux better than I
ever remember having it run in Windows. [though I use the NVidia binary drivers]

Kernel is 2.4.9, X version 4.1.0, Does anyone else have the Radeon working nicely?

I have searched the web, and found some articles offering tips, but nothing that
really worked. Looked through LinuxQuestions.org [i think thats it] and
linuxnewbie.org and even linuxdoc.org..

There must be someone out there with a radeon and a wining solution on how you can get
it to play nice with Q3?

Oh btw we applied point release 1.3 aswell.. no difference..

Thanks in Advance
