Epson self calibrates/aligns or whatever all the time which is a right pain. I had a problem with one epson and the print head to be replaced is more than the printers worth. (inkjets are disposable) The HP's I've had, had a problem with banging and squeaking, easily fixed with new spring and sewing machine oil respectively. Self lubricating say HP (not). Both have worked flawlessly under RH. A tip if you are referring to component(i.e. parts) technical support, go to America as they have service documents, parts and assembly pdf's etc on the net, with a bit of searching. HP Australia actually sent me a new spring and ? clutch actuator for free when I quoted them part numbers.
