I only recently moved to Sydney and now find myself having to set up a new home... furniture, whitegoods, curtains, etc... but I've decided I can just sit on the floor so long as I have a nice new shiny red computer to play with :)
So I'm looking for recommendations on a place to buy one. To start with I basically just want a box with a ridiculously fast processor, far too much RAM/HDD, quality motherboard and NIC. I'll go out and get myself a sound card and better video card later. Preinstalled OS optional (where's the fun in that?)... I should probably get a new monitor too. I like the warranty/support you can get from some of the bigger vendors but they're overpriced and always want to foist extra crap on you (i.e. XP) which bumps the price up even more. Can anyone recommend a place here in Sydney where they sell quality "just the basics" systems with whatever I want in terms of CPU/RAM/HDD sizes? I'm also wondering about a backup device - DAT drives and media are big $$, previously I've just burnt CD's... any better ideas?
