Yeah. One problem with the Ximian packages is that they're as automated as
possible, and are provided for umpteen million different distros, versions
and operating systems.
This means that they may not get the same attention as packages built by a
human Debian maintainer.
apt can only work out dependencies that it knows about, and if a package
specifies something that either cannot work, or doesn't exist, then you
still have a problem.
Debian's best features are *not* its package tools, although they are very
good. Its many human maintainers who are involved with and use the software
they package, and its policies are Debian's best points. [ Although some of
those maintainers are jerkoffs, which can be a really bad point. :( ]
[ There's also the user end of the Debian package management problem: "I
have potato, but I also have testing and unstable lines in my sources.list!"
Which is often not what was intended... ]
