Does anyone know of linux based programs for testing floppy drives ?

Sure, you can try formatting, writing, reading, etc. But, some drives
may be marginal, writing and reading files but not enough to boot from
the drive.

Are there programs which explicitly "run a floppy through its paces" ?

Worst case, I'll write some cat >/dev/fd0, cat </dev/fd0 type scripts,
but something more organised would be nice.

Thanks,
