Axe LILO completely if you reach this point - once you have a working
Grub setup, LILO is just a waste of time. LILO can only build
bootmaps for mounted filesystems. grub doens't need such maps, it
knows how to read the filesystems natively. You can get away with one
grub install to boot both your linux distros if you plan things right.

Once again, I'll just scorn whoever told you do to that - it just
causes trouble. If you really want to remain paranoid, just install
/boot on the first harddrive, and it use it for nothing else - the
point is that you need a partition whose boot sector you can hijack to
hold your linux bootloader, since storing bootloaders in the MBR is a
risky business. If this is a problem, get Partition Magic and fix
your partitioning so it isn't[1].

C.

[1] And despite what people may have to say about partition magic,
I've had no problems with any version of partition magic I've used
to date (Versions 3 through 5 inclusive).
