As already mentioned, you can click on the Terminal (name given in the tooltip) icon on the panel. You can also go the the K-menu (usually left most icon on the panel) and open up any of the programs under the Terminals submenu. If you are using a 2.2 KDE and the panel has disappeared, as it seems to do sometimes, you can also press ALT F2 (together) and then run the x-terminal of your choice (kconsole is the usual KDE default I think). I don't know if this works on pre-KDE2. If you still have the panel, you can do the same thing by opening the K-menu(is that what it is called?) and selecting "run command". If you can open up konqueror (perhaps by clicking on the home icon on the desktop), you can go to the tools menu and select "open terminal". If the konqueror window is active, simply pressing CTRL T (together) will do the same thing. There are plenty of other ways to get a command shell, but most of them are less KDE specific. I guess some people get a little twitchy if they are too many key-presses/clicks away from their command line. :) Cheers, Malcolm V.
