I'm assuming you're talking about the Auslig Raster 250K maps. They're in a proprietary format (ECW), but the company that created the ECW standard has released a Windows SDK. I reckon it would be possible to reverse-engineer this SDK, so that we can have a Linux interface to the ECW format. In any event, the Auslig application supports map export to png and jpg formats. This is mighty handy for those of us who use Linux-based GPS applications. However, the maps need to be "geo-referenced" before they can be used (the geo-referencing information is stored (I think) in the ECW files) by linux GPS apps, which is a pain, and I often get it wrong. (There's something going wrong when you're driving down a country road, and the map shows your position as being off the road by some 500 metres or so).
