We've had a lot of trouble with Kyocera printers too. You may find
that it needs a firmware upgrade to get a newer version of Postscript
or KPDL, but even that's not guaranteed to fix your problems.

We have an FS-1600 and an FS-3500 that print fine from some versions of
Windows, sometimes. Sometimes they just print the raw Postscript or
KPDL. Sometimes changing drivers makes them print OK, but then the
driver will need to be changed again to print something else. We've
tried every driver we can get our hands on, and *none* work all the
time.

I can't print anything to them from StarOffice on Linux, unless I print
to a file, then convert the result to pdf with ps2pdf, then use
acroread to print. I can print OK from Netscape, or print plain text
with lpr.

I've given up trying to get them to work properly. I don't print much
anyway, so although it takes a bit of work on the rare occasions I do
need to print, overall it's less time and hassle than fscking around
with them to try to get them to work all the time.

Cheers,

John
