Peter,

I installed RedHat onto my brothers Excel 2700C (I think).

It has PCCard Slots (PCMCIA)
and it uses a SIS In built Network card. It works not a problem
Only thinkg that doesn't work is the WinModem that's built in.

Clevo is the 'main manufacturer' of the Excel laptops .. try taking a
look at
http://www.linux-on-laptops.com
and specifically
http://www.linux-on-laptops.com/clevo.html

That might help you get going. maybe you might strike lucky with the
chipset of the WinModem
that it comes with, the hard part will be 'pairing' the
'Excel/Highlander' model to the Equiv Clevo
model, but once your done there, your home.

Installing Xwindows was a bit of a doosey, but I ended up finding
the EXACT working answer here (after trying many others XF86Config
files)

Regards
Ramon
