I find a fair bit of crap like this in my mailbox, and I'd love to come
up with some sort of filter I could plug into my mail program
(Evolution) to send them directly to trash.

Because the sources are many and varied but one constant thing is those
"funny" characters in the subject field, I was thinking of something
along the lines of regexp that would pick anything other than the
letters of English alphabet or numbers.

Can anyone familiar with programming suggest a regexp that would do the
trick?
