that was my point earlier. you can run
spamassassin/procmail/Mail::Audit/whatever on your mail *before* it
gets to mozilla.

just have your mail server pipe it through whatever command as its
delivering it to your mailbox, then get mozilla/evolution/whatever to
read the (now processed) mail as usual.

if you read mail directly from your isp and they don't let you setup
random shell commands in ~/.forward (or similar) - then you might want
to look at "fetchmail", which will let you suck the mail down and then
deliver it using the mail server on your local linux box.
