Hi everybody: It's been a while, I have been meaning to re-subscribe since I started working at Newcastle Uni.
I have recompiled a kernel for my new machine which locks up on booting, and I don't really know where to start. The kernel starts up and goes through its tests, until it gets to: CALIBRATING APIC TIMER .... CPU clock speed is 1595.8337 MHz .... host bus clock speed is 0.000 CPU:0, clocks:0 slice:0 _ and that's as far as I get. I tried recompiling with the processor options first set for Pentium 3 and then standard Pentium, but still the same result. The installed distribution is Red Hat 7.2 The motherboard is an Intel D845BG desktop m/board Processor Intel Pentium 4 1.6 GHz Bus speed 400 Mhz The original kernel from Red Hat boots OK, but nothing else. Any ideas Cheers Erich -- SLUG - Sydney Linux User's Group - http://slug.org.au/ More Info: http://lists.slug.org.au/listinfo/slug
