Not quite true, the basic Veritas Netbackup client software is free (as in
beer).

Whoa! Technically this should work but licence wise it probably won't
until you 'fess up with some more cash. The vendors of backup software
often licence on a per machine basis. A smart user might realise that
if they attached shares from all their machines to a central one, then
they would only need one license... The vendors are awake to this one.
