oooh really? i didn't know that.... I started out using RH7.0 but switched allegiance (such as it is) to MDK a year or so ago - it just seemed to be a better out-of-the-box install for my servers. I've hardly touched it as a desktop.. apart from on my dual boot laptop where i couldn't get the audio driver to work so sort of gave up on it. I'm a command line guy when it comes to linux... Where I need GUI I use OSX :-) It's like this, actually ... Windows keeps me in a job, Linux keeps me sane, and OSX makes me blissfully happy. (now there's a bumper sticker for you :-) But seriously. Back to the RAID issue - having read around (and particularly the well written http://linas.org/linux/raid.html ) i've concluded that for the small site in question, money for RAID would be better spent on external backup of a journalling FS... many thanks to those who responded so quickly though. ..S. -- SLUG - Sydney Linux User's Group - http://slug.org.au/ More Info: http://lists.slug.org.au/listinfo/slug
