its strange that you can only get 1 to work out of all of them.
I'm assuming you meant "/usr/bin/acer.tar.gz" in the above message.
Do you have any Acer hardware? like an acer monitor?
If so, you could try typing "text" at the prompt when the mandrake
cd-rom starts. This will give you a text istallation instead of a
graphical one but this might eliminate your problem.

You could also try pulling out your cd-rw and sticking a generic cdrom
in there just until mandrake is installed, and then put your cd-rw back
in.

Also try disconnecting/removing any unnecessary hardware like your
modem. Sometimes these will be detected and installed during the install
process but they can also cause problems...especially internal modems
since alot of them these days are WinModems which aren't very compatible
with Linux (because they are specifically designed for Windows).

Dont worry too much about removing hardware before the install process
because once you get mandrake installed you can put your hardware back
in and then mandrake can have a go at detecting it and setting it up for
you.

If it still doesn't work then I can supply you with working coppies of
Mandrake 9.0 I know they work because I used them to install on my
system which i'm using right now.

let us know how you go :)
