I have set in smb.conf
  security = server
  password server = XYZ
  encrypt passwords = yes
  local master = no
  os level = 0
  announce as = Win95
; domain master = yes

where XYZ is the name of the PDC. The "os level" and "announce as" should
force it to lose elections.

Also I note in Paul Green's SAMBA troubleshooting guide that you sometimes
have to wait up to 72 minutes for changes to be propagated through the
domain controllers.

Regards,

Jill.

Oh dear what have I done???I would like a little
assistance if that's possible
....
Is it a big problem to relegat the SAMBA machine back
to common old member server? Do all I need tyo do is
stop the WINS server from running?
I know, ignorance has led me to a point of complete
confusion.
