Indeedy, but having (n)mh around, the script is half-written for you:
refile +lists/slug `pick --list-id slug`
would file all your slug mailing list mail into folder ~/<mh-dir>/lists/slug

I was going to mention the maildir format, but do cli utilities
exist for it like they do for MH? I know of an attempt to start
on such a thing (http://www.nb.net/~lbudney/linux/mdmh.html)
but it hasn't seemed to have gotten very far.
