Hi John, First of all, you should probably send plain-text mail to this list -- a lot of people can't read html-mail. Now, your modem, what type of modem is it? If it's a so-called "winmodem", there's a non-trivial chance that it may not work with linux. If it's a "normal" modem it can probably be coerced to work. All the different distributions have different mechanisms for configuring them though, so you'll need to let us know what you're using (mandrake, redhat etc) If you're talking about the mandrake internet connection wizard, you'll probably have to manually select the modem that you want to use.
