The USB ones can be a little picky. Some brands do not work,
at least not easily, but others do. You will need to load
the usb-storage module.

I see those URLs show PQI readers. This brand is generally
supported right out of the box...I have a PQI travelflash
5 in one and it just works.

The kernel USB options only show ones that are "weird"..most
just use the usb-storage API which is pretty generic.
