1. apt-get install smbmount smbfs 2. uname -a (That's for all distros) 3. You shouldn't have to install anything for sound unless you have some dodgy sound card that won't work with any of the drivers that came with your system.For mine (Which has an onboard Creative 128 PCI) I just had to load es1371 and sound (sound was the OSS drivers)
